Reflections

In 2017, Diversions proudly celebrates its 39th year, yet we continue to be young, fresh and innovative. We are gratified by the unparalleled dedication of our members, whose desire for the best has challenged us to create the ultimate in cultural arts and travel experiences: exclusive entrees, highly-prized theatre and concert tickets, 5-star hotels, top-rated chefs, and the most knowledgeable guides.

For more than three decades we have made the inaccessible accessible.  In 2016, we were in awe during our trip to the architectural masterpiece Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville and were extremely moved during our private visit to Central High School in Little Rock, epicenter of the Little Rock integration crisis.   In the past,  fascinating families such as the Rothschilds and the Churchills have opened their doors and their hearts to us; we’ve been entertained by the Royal Guard at the Savoy in London on New Year’s Eve; we’ve witnessed the astounding migration of thousands of animals crossing the Serengeti; we’ve wept with an 87-year-old as he recalled the day the Americans arrived to save his small French village on D-Day; we’ve delighted in a white-glove, rose petal-strewn private luncheon on the Great Wall of China and we were showered with fireworks and fountains at our special evening at Peterhof in St. Petersburg.

In Berlin, we’ve toured the Reichstag with the same expert guide that escorted George W. Bush, Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell; we’ve taken tango lessons in Buenos Aires with Sr. Velasquez, Madonna’s dance coach for “Evita”; we were welcomed into the private residences of Pucci and Ferragamo in Italy; we were privileged to hear a private lecture given by Dr. Zahi Hawass, Director of the Giza Pyramids Excavation; in the French Riviera, we were captivated by Jacques Renoir, the great-grandson of Pierre-Auguste Renoir in the artist’s home; Count and Countess de Nicolay graciously entertained us at dinner in their lovely Chateau du Lude in the Loire Valley; and our members traveled to Provence for a week of cooking with renowned food editor/author/instructor Patricia Wells in her charming residence; and we had the rare privilege of being wined and dined by Lady Carnarvon at Highclere Castle, home of Downton Abbey.  In 2016, we were captivated by Cuba during our 3rd and 4th trips to this complex country and inspired to see what changes have already occurred during our 5th trip in 2017.

We’ve golfed the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland and the emerald greens of Ballybunion in Ireland. We’ve cheered at The Masters and the Ryder Cup. And for 27 years, our members have enjoyed the world’s best tennis at the U.S. Open.

Year after year, thousands of our Diversions members have traveled in the finest style to experience the best of Broadway with the added pleasure of private meetings with such luminaries as Al Pacino, Jefferson Mays and Ben Platt.  Misty Copeland dazzled us at the Metropolitan Opera House and Wolftrap.   We’re proud to have been the go-to source for Hamilton tickets, with over 700 members experiencing this cultural phenomenon.

As Diversions continues to grow, our mantra remains “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
